- The Landlord at present is Colonel Fenwick Palmer. Most of the holdings were brought by the Land Commission, only the smaller holings of one rood and less remain with the Landlord. This estate has been in the Palmer family for over 200 years. It was bought by Palmer from a former owner named Sir Robert Echlin. The Palmers were always looked upon as good landlords, and there were never any evictions on the estate. They were lenient with the people when unable to pay their rent. When the crops were poor each farmer got a grant of 2 to 10 pounds, to help them over the season. They supplied straw free of charge to the poor to thatch their houses. A good many women who were in poor circumstan-ces or who lost their husbands were granted small pensions to help to rear their families. Free coal was given to the schools for heating(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
