- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The following are the names of these fields:
"The Golden Field", "Washing Park", and "Billy's Field". "Billy's Field" is so called because King William was supposed to camp or pass through that field on his way from the battle of the Boyne. I do not know why the other two fields are so called.
There are also other fields in Greenogue called different names. These fields are Peter's Park", "Ballyaghuwary", "The Mill Hill" and "Croppy's Hill".
"Croppy's Hill" is so called because long ago croppies used be hung in that field. I do not know why the other fields are so called.
There is a field in Newbarn called "The Dun Water" and it is so called because there is a stream running through the middle of that field and the ground is very swampy around the stream.
There are fields in Newtown called "The Larklands" and "The Milestone Field". "The Milestone Field" is so called becaue the seven-mile stone from Dublin is along the ditch of that field. I do not know why the other field is so called.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
