- Kilbride was a place in the old days. When a corps would be buried on that night the kidnappers would come and take it to get money for them. The wheels of the cards were covered with bags, and cloth on the horses' feet. This night they were caught, by three men one man's grandfather who was buried, whose name was James Sweeney from Kilbride and they shot the kidnappers and put an end to them. In the very old days Saint Brigid built a church there, Cill Brígde.
