    and when he came to where there were two men setting oats he kept on shouting "What is going down that it may never come up?" so they nearly killed him. He told them it was his mother who told him say that and the men said it would be better to say "Where there is one this year that there may be two next year". He then continued his journey until he came to a funeral and he began to say "Where there is one this year that there may be two next year" and again he got a severe beating and he was told to say "The Lord have mercy on the dead". He went along until he came to where a man was hanging a dog and a slut and he repeated the words which he was told and this man got very angry and he gave him an awful beating and he told him to say "A man hanging a slut and a dog". Well this man thumped him and told him to say "I wish you your joy". He next came to a man quenching his house that was on fire and he said to him "I wish you your joy". This man nearly stretched him
