- Some people sow a garden, but the farmers sow four or five acres of potatoes. The farmer prepares the ground for the potatoes. There is no manure put in the ground before it is ploughed. The farmer manually sows drills but the people who sow a garden sow them in ridges with a spade and the drills are made with a duble plough, and some people use a singal plough.Long ago the people used to use wooden ploughs and wooden spades to dig up the ground. The wooden spades were called Brogeen spades. The wooden spades are not used nowadays, it is all metal the people use for this sort of work. The metal articles are usually bought in shops or factorys(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
