And Saturday no luck at all.
It is the custom to make the match a few weeks before the marriage. This is done by the boy coming to the girls house and asking a certain sum of money of her parents as a fortune. The parents give wharever amount of money they can afford, and a certain day is arranged for the marriage.
Both the boy and the girl get a special suit for the day of the marriage. Recently marriages take place in the morning, in my district. The last marriage in my district took place about a month ago.
The boy and the guests he had invited to his wedding came to the girls house early in the morning. The girl and her friends were prepared and they all set out in their cars for the church. After the marriage they returned to the brides house for breakfast. They had entertainment all day until about four o'clock. Friends and neighbours enjoyed themselves and the married pair went to Dublin in the evening.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
