- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)In Autumn the potatoes are taken from the ground by digging them with the spade or by ploughing them. The neighbours help at the digging and picking of the crop. My uncle takes the good potatoes and places them in a pit, and black and small ones are put in a loft. The varieties grown in this district are the "Champion," "Kerrspink," "Epicure," "Hibernian," Flounders, and Irish and British Queens. There is a large percentage of starch in the Champion. There are varieties of plough, the wooden and [?] plough. The wooden plough is practically unknown in this district but is still used in mountainy and moory land.
