    Churning is common in our district. Long ago there were a lot of custom about churning.
    Long ago when they used to be churning some people used to make the sign of the cross over the churn so that they would have a lot of butter would not.
    Some people would not leave others be singing while the would be churning they say the butter would not gather.
    People know when the butter is made when big lumps of butter comes up on the top of the lid.
    The different parts of a churn are the dash and the butter cup.
    If a person would be churning when a stranger would come in they would help to churn.
    For the people say they would bring the luck away
