- November Eve occurs each year on the last night of October.
Many customs are observed in our district on that night.
Children hang an apple by a string from the roof and each one jumps around trying to take a bite out of it. The first one that succeeds in catching it between his teeth, gets the whole apple for himself.
Again, when this day approaches, one member of the family makes a cake into which he drops a ring. When it is baked, it is divided into a number of slices, and each one gets a piece.
Whoever happens to get the piece, is supposed to get married the soonest.
Another trick they practice, is to put three saucers on the table, into which they put clay, water and a ring. Each person present is bed blindfolded to the saucers. If he puts his hand in the one with the water, he is expected to cross the sea the soonest of the crowd; and if he puts his hand in(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
