Superstitions.People believed that it was unlucky to meet a red haired woman when setting out on a journey, or when going to a fair or market.It was also considered unlucky to get the first view of a new moon through glass, or to meet one magpie. They had a rhyme that ran like this:-One for sadness,
Two for mirth,
Three for a wedding,
Four for a birth,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a story that never was told.Amongst other things supposed to bring bad luck was the sweeping out (of) of ashes or(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
