- My home is situated in Darreen and in the parish of Glinsk. There are five families in the district and altogether there are twenty two people. The place got its name from all the oaks that grew there. None of the old people can speak Irish but are very good at telling English stories.
There are only four old people in the district. Houses were more numerous in the olden times but most of them are in ruins now. Great numbers of the people went to America and few of them came back. The river Suck flows past the townland and on account of the land being low around it floods often cover it. Not far from the district there is a lot of bogland and very good turf is found.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
