- There are many churns being used now. The most ancient of them is the dash churn. It was always used by the old people. Its' measurement is three feet in length and one and a half feet in (breth) breadth. It is made by the carpenter. It holds about five gallons of buttermilk. There are many things belonging to it such as the dash, the lid, the batters, and the dish, and jogler. The dash is used for churning the butter-milk up and down. The jogler is that which keeps the cream from coming up with the dash. The batters are used to make the butter into rolls, and the dish is used for putting the butter into when made.I heard a story from an old man in my district about a poor woman whose butter was stolen from her for seven years.
