    To borrow a needle is believed unlucky as it will pierce the friendship between the giver and the person who takes it.
    When buying a foal or horse it is usual for the seller to give back some of the money such as a half-crown and this money is called "luck". It is believed unlucky, if the seller were short of change, for a neighbour or friend to supply it on loan.
    It is unlucky to rob a robin's or a crow's nest.
