    When a beast got sick it was said that she was elf-shot. It was thought that the fairies had something to do with her. Elf-stone were to be got in the country. They were four or five small stones and those mixed with the water from the stream, which water from three townlands has flown into was the cure for a beast that was elf-shot.
    It was thought unlucky if a hare ran across the road in front of a person.
    If a turf falls out of the fire some-one is going to come into the house.
    It is said that it is not lucky to lend anything on 1st May.
    If a cat sits with her back to the fire it is a sign that there is a storm coming
