Paidin was too much afraid to venture up the town to buy the powder for the cow for fear that anyone might take the crock of gold from him. He was hoping that the ould hag would not be in the wood or see him going home of him, so he stole quietly through the wood and when Paidin thought that he was past her safely didn't he hear the most terrible yell from the old woman in the wood you ever heard, for him to give her the powder or else to bring back the crock of gold. With that Paidin took to his heels and ran like the very divil across fields and
