1. When the wind blows from Bargowla (a townland south west of Drumkeerin but west of teller's residence) there will soon be rain.
2. When a mist covers Sliab na bille (a peak in Sliab an Iarainn mountain in Leitrim) rain is sure to follow soon.
3. When the sun causes a large stone in Sliab an Iarainn (in Leitrim) to glitter and be visible to people living west of it storm is to come.
4. When the wild geese return from Corn mountain peak in Sligo rain is to follow.
5. Young horses foretell storm when they go coursing across the fields.
6. Whenever Ballisodare waterfalls (in Sligo) can be heard in Liskellew near Drumkeerin in Leitrim rain is to follow.
7. When the wind blows up from Manorhamilton (from north) dry hard weather follows.
8. When the cat washes her face with her paws rain is to follow but is she puts her paws across her ears while washing a wind storm is to come.
