    She'll not come the highway or byway,
    Neither by train or by bus;
    But she'll tear her way down the big river,
    And arrive with a terrible fuss.

    From Greyfield bridge to Lake Allen
    Will be covered by water, I fear.
    For miles on each side of the river
    So I'm told by a French engineer.
    7.
    The Lake Allen will be a lot larger,
    With Belhavel, Mahanagh, and all;
    And Greyfield it will the harbour,
    For tourists and fishers to call.
    8.
    This lake will be dotted with Islands,
    When the valleys with water are filled;
    It will be like Conemara for beauty,
    Killarney, Lough Neagh or Lough Gill.
    9.
    I pity the farmers however,
    Whose lands will be taken indeed;
    To go under the waves of Lough Allen,
    The pikes and the perches to feed.
    10.
    For he'll not see much of its beauty.
