In the kitchen a bed was kept called a "settlebed". This bed was made in such a way that it could be made into a seat in the day and was usually kept in the corner at the dresser.
These houses consisted of two rooms the floors of which were made of clay.
The gables of these houses were thatched half way to the ground and therefore were known as "hipped gables."
