- There are the ruins of an old monastery in Cluainkeen. It was built by monks in the 13th century. The greater part of it has fallen. In the part of it that is standing yet, the remains of the doors and windows are to be seen. The walls are covered with moss and ivy.
It is said that after Cromwell coming to Ireland, that his soldiers drove the monks out of the monastery, and stabled their horses in it. No monk ever lived in the monastery from that time.
There is the ruin of an old castle in Clough called "Bauvan Castle". It is situated on the top of a hill by the side of the road. The field in which the castle is built is the property of Bartholomew Treacy.- Bailitheoir
