Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)it was hackled and the fine flax was made into knots and the toe or the coarse flax was spun and from it sheets were made - the stuff for making the sheets was called canvas. Table cloth were made from the fine flax - and other fine articles was also made from it. The thread had to be washed before it could be spun but at times the flax wasn't washed until the articles were manufactured then they were boiled in "kelp" made from burned seaweed then they were allowed to bleach in the sun for a few days.
Around about Lixnaw there was several "spinners" who manufactured the articles for the people - and they were paid according to the amount of work they did.- Bailitheoir
