About a hundred years ago the people of Tuam used to think that a person with a bad eye could take away the butter from your cows. There lived in Marley a woman who had a few cows. When she churned her milk she could not get any butter. There was an old man passing at the time dressed in old clerical clothes. He went into the house and took the churn dash from the woman. She was very distressed and told him that she had been churning for a couple of hours and still had no butter. He began to churn and soon the churn was full of butter. He told her he had the butter and from that on she had no churning.- Collector
