    ago this place was known as Corbuile. It is said that all the cows of the district used to go and be milked there every evening.
    Kiltycarney:
    Is a townland three miles south of Carrick-on-Shannon. Long ago it is believed that there was a large castle there, the foundation of which is still to be seen. Leading up to it is a lane about a half mile long. No family lives near that spot as it is a very marshy place.
    Around the remains of the castle are many fruit trees, especially nut trees and flowers. Kiltycarney is said to mean the "Wood of the Nuts."
