would do great damage about the house.
It was thought unlucky for the bride to go to her husband's house for a month after the marriage. Then the groom's man would go for her, and she would bring her chairs, and tables, and bed, and bed clothes or flitting as it was called. This was called the "Dragging Home." There was another dance that night.

  2. Marriage Customs.
John Mc Loughlin Scardawn told me that fifty or sixty years ago, girls were stolen away from their fathers and mothers, and made marry boys older than themselves. The poor girls could not say a word, but were taken away by force and had to marry. Any place boys knew of a good looking girl, they planned it up with three or four other boys, to go the house in the late hours of the night and demand her.
