- The two important places in this district where fairs are held are Ballinamore and Mohill. These places are convenient for jobbers because they are beside the railway station. They say you should give coppers when you are giving luck. The twenty fifth of February is a great fair. It is held in Mohill. Long ago the people used to tie a red ribbon on the cattles" tail afraid they would be over looked. They used to say that some people had an evil look in their eye.
