   Charles Bohan, Farma and auctioneer, now living in Annaughbrennan, told me that when he was ab oy he saw hundreds of bones and skulls dug up in a field where he then lived in Cornulla, parish of Cloone. The old people said there was battle fought there in olden times, and the people when he was a boy used to call the field "Killala" after the battle of Killala

   The hills on the old road leading from John Dillon's cross Cloone on to Aughavas and Camgallen are called the Monuments. The road goes up and down steep hills and passes by this school. This is how it got its name. In the bad times '47 The English had a big boiler at Cloone Grange for making stirabout.
