    Riddles Continued 28th March 1938
    What is the difference between a person that is late for the train and a school mistress? One misses the train and other trains the missus.
    Where would a mouse not make its nest? In a mouses ear.
    What flies high, flies low, wears shoes and has none? A football.
    As I went out a yonder gap I met a little boy with a bundle of sticks on top of his head and no one could count them but God. The hair of a boy's head.
    What sings and has no voice? A kettle.
    The more you take off it the bigger it gets? A hole
    What is smaller than a midge's mouth? The bit that goes into it.
    Why is a king and the clouds the same? They both (reign) rain over us.
    Why are A. E. and U. the most handsome of letters? Because there would be no beauty without them.
    Why is a nib left? Because it sees the pen (right) write.
    What is it that has a tongue and yet it cannot see? The tongue of a shoe.
    Why is a piece of toffee like a racehorse? Because the more you lick it the quicker it goes.
    If a man gets up on an ass where will he get (down) on the swan's bosom.
