The wedding morning came and the bridegroom and his friends went to the bride's house. All started for the chapel. Sometimes there was a "drag" of twenty or thirty side cars.
After the marriage, the married couple started off from the chapel. They were "roped" several times on their way and had to pour out silver and coppers to those who held the rope.
In the bride's house they sat down to a big dinner of goose and bacon. Porter and whiskey were handed round and bands of sappers came from every direction to sing and dance and feast.
