- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Little girls gathered "Bog Cotton" or as they called it "Cannabawn". They tied rushes round a piece of bog, then dressed the doll with old clothes and used the cannabán to make the head.
Boys made snares and cribs.
The best cribs were made from the elder and these were set out to catch the birds.
In winter many a blackbird and thrush was caught, and when killed was plucked, cleaned and roasted on the red hot coals. Sometimes two or three birds were roasted on the tongs.
Boys mad etheir own spinning tops. They got a small block of wood and took it to the blacksmith who drove a nail into it.
Whips were made from boiled sally rods plaited together.
