- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)ago there were nine or ten shoe makers here. Boots are made and repaired in factories now. Shoemaking was a tradition in the families of the former shoe makers. Most shoe-makers are men with weak feet and some are dumb.
The soles of clogs were made in the wood near by. Mr. Collis owned it at that time but it is now owned by Mr. Foley. The men who made the soles bought alder trees from Mr. Collis and got leave to build a hut in the wood. Alder was the wood used for the soles of the clogs. Some of the soles were sent to England.
