- About three miles from the village is Gleann na Léime or the Glen of the Jump. Long ago people had a sportsfield in one of the highest hills near the stacks mountains. One day Fionn Mc Cumaill was out hunting and he was hungry [and?] tired and his clothes were torn. He was passing by the field and he saw a great crowd of people there. Fionn went in and looked at the [games] they were playing. He laughed when he saw them trying to throw weights and jump after [them].
As his clothes were torn the women laughed [him] to scorn. Fionn was so angry that he tore a rock out of the mountain and threw it two miles over the gleann and jumped after it. When he stood on top of the stone he jumped back to the field again. All the people were surprised [by?] this. The glen he jumped over is called Gleann na Léime. The stone is still to be seen in Glenballyma.
