   The Lord Mayor's daughter was looking out of the window at all this, and she said to herself, "he must be an awful rich gentleman, because he has the best silk handkerchiefs that could be found, and he never uses them a second time. She called on one of the servants to invite him in. When "Lordy Thorneys" son heard this his heart jumped with joy. He went in with the servant, and he was brought into where the Lord Mayor's daughter was. She recieved him with great delight. He told her that "Lordy Thorney" was his father's name, and that he was the only heir to his father's property, and that his father could not know the end of his tenants. The Lord Mayor was not at home on that day, so she made him promise that he would come the next day. He said it was time for him to be going to his hotel, and when he was about to leave he put his hands into his pockets and he told her that he forgot his purse, and that would she do him a favour of lending him a hundred pounds. She ran off at once and got him the money.
