- Once upon a time there was a warrior named Fionn Mac Cual and he was a great hunter. One day while he was hunting on the Ox Mountains and he saw a huge stone and he said he would throw it into the sea. He threw the stone but it did not fall in the sea. Finn was very angry and he split the stone with his sword. The stone was afterwards called "The Split Rock," and it is beside Killeen School. There is an old legend about the rock, that if you walk through the rock three times it will close on you the third time.
