- When the monks were banished from Banada in the year 1650, the monastic garden was considered hallowed ground and it was the earnest wish of the people to be buried there. Hence it is the oldest graveyard in my district.
The ruins of the Augustinian monastery mark the centre of the graveyard. The stone steps that led to the Monks (steps) sells are still to be seen. On these steps are brown spots which are supposed to be spots of blood as the monks killed on the stairs leading to their sells.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
