Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the dog to protect him and he went his way. He got lodging's from another farmer to whom he also told his story. This farmer too kept a very cross dog. That night the black dog appeared but he was attacked by the two dogs and driven off. On the following day when leaving the house the farmer gave him a present of the dog so they boy had now two animals to protect him. On the third night he again got lodgings from a farmer to whom he related his story. Never mind said the farmer. Any strange dog can't enter my place for he would be torn to pieces by by dogs.
That night the black dog again tried to get the boy but failed. He tried for days, weeks. and years after that but failed. Later the boy settled down, married and had forgotten all his troubles about the black dog when suddenly the animal appeared(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
