- The local roads lead from a cross road. One leads to the Shannon, another to Listowel, another to Ballyheigue, and another to Tralee. Also in the district there are old "boreens". The name of one of these boreens is Boreenacunahine.
This boreen was very much in use long ago as the old men used to travel there when they were bringing seaweed from the sea.
The other roads have no names. These roads lead to the gardens and also to the fields. Old people state some of these roads were made as relief work during the famine period and that the pay of the workmen was from sixpence to eightpence per day. There are many old paths in the district such as a path from Castle-shannon to Drumnacurra School, a path from Cleandries to Drumnacurra School, and a path from the townland of Ardagh to a townland called Addergown.- Collector
