- (continued from previous page)The some fear came over them and they went no further because they [heard] music and dancing and the chatter of many tongues so that was the [last?] of that treasure.Stories are told how lights were seen in Carrowmore beside a lone tree and it also stated that gold is to be found under the roots of this tree.Once a man cut a lone tree and when it was cut the strangest thing happened, the roof of his mouth fell down.So it is said that it is never right to cut a tree which grows alone in a field. This man was warned beforehand not to cut the tree but he paid no heed to his neighbour's advice and this is what happened.
