When the police were about a quarter of a mile from the house the horse fell on the road. There was a butcher near at hand and the police said they would give him a half crown if he would bury the horse. That evening the butcher skinned the horse, and the next morning when he awoke the horse was standing at the door. He went to the publican and the publican told him what the horse drank and he said for to put sheep skins on him When the butcher went home he covered the horse with sheep skins and turned him into a field. Some time after a circus party was passing and they saw the horse. In the meantime the horses own hair had grown through the sheep skin and he was different colours. The circus man asked the butcher would he sell the horse and the butcher said he wouldn't sell him for fifty pound well said the circus man I'll give you the fifty" It's a bargain said the butcher and he sold the horse.
