  1. There is an old Abbey or church about five hundred yards from my home. Kildalough or "Tempul Kildalough" as the people in the neighbourhood call it, is the most interesting object between Ballysodare and Larkhill. The old residents of the neighbourhood say that Kildalough and Killaspugbrone are the two churches first prayed for in Rome which seem to mean that they are the two oldest churches in this part of the country.
    People say Kildalough was an ordinary house of worship. Mass used to be celebrated in it and St Finian was associated with it.
