  1. There is only one holy-well in Ballygawley in the parish of Riverstown. In James Collery's field it is at the back of his house. No one visits it now. There is an ash tree growing beside it.
It is said that Pat Kelly of Ballygawley went for a can of water to put on a churn of milk and when he had it near the house it got all dirty and muddy. It is never used since for household purposes.
There is a graveyard near it in which unbaptised children were buried. There is also a bishop buried in it and there is a tombstone erected in memory of him.
There is another holy well at Tubbernalth near Lough Gill. People visit it on Garland Sunday that is the last Sunday of July. They make the stations of the cross and drink the water. They never bathe in the water. St. Patrick blessed the well when he was passing by the place.
There is a trout in the well also, and the water was used by priests in the Penal times.
There is also an altar at the well. People also visit it on the 15th of August.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
