- There is a rock called 'Carraig an Sagort' on the farm of Patrick Conlon, in Ballinashee, Geevagh, Co. Sligo. Patrick Conlon is my uncle.
In the Penal times Mass was offered at this rock. There is a flat stone on top of the rock and this flag is made of cement Around the base of the rock there are other flags. The rock is situated in a bog.
Every Sunday, a priest, Father John Carran and the people used bring bags and poles and set up a rude tent to shelter the priest while he was reading Mass. The priest used go and offer up Mass int he people's houses every week.
Another priest was caught while reading Mass at this rock. A spear was driven through his body and some of his blood fell on the rock and the stain may still be seen on the rock. Some people tried to washa way the stain but they could not. Their priest's name was Father Patrick Walsh.- Bailitheoir
