  1. In olden times people only eat three meals a day which consisted of the breakfast, dinner and supper. The breakfast was not eaten until nine or ten o'clock. People were often out working for two or three hours before their breakfast. At the digging of the potatoes each man dug his own potatoes before his breakfast.
    The breakfast generally consisted of potatoes and buttermilk. In those days there were no creameries and the people churned all the milk which they drank after having it churned. They packed all the butter which they did not need in firkins and sold it on the market.
