Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Long ago people had to seek out methods of their own for making bread.
    The chief bread which was made in olden times was Boxty and potato-cake. The ingredients were chiefly potatoes adn flour. They sometimes had to knead it with water when they would mix too much flour. It was a very starchy food and was not very healthy.
    There was enough made at one time for the week and this day taken for it was usually Saturday.
    Later on then the people made bread of corn or oats kneaded with water. These cakes were baked in an oven with fire under and over it + the sign of the cross cut out on the top of every cake. This sign was supposed to be made for luck.
