  1. Highwood is my home district. In Irish the name is Coill Uachtair or upper wood, but some think it should be Cill Uachtair or upper church. The name Highwood has come to be regarded in modern times as a parish simply because there is a Catholic Church there. The same tendency has taken place in Geevagh, although neither place has any historical authority for claiming to be regarded as such. But I suppose all parishes started out in a similar way long ago and why not now?
    I live in the townland of Dromore parish of Kilmactranny, Barony of Tirreril and Co. Sligo.
