- The old people of this district long ago were noted to be very religious and they used to be always praising and thanking God for His goodness. I will now give a list of all I know:- if there would be a new moon they used to join hands and say "God give us the light of heaven", (2) if a person came in to a house and would not take tea the woman of the house would address him in Irish and say "Sulc Dé"; (3) when putting down a fire or lighting a candle they used to say "God give us the lights of heaven;" (4) if the people of a house were churning and a person to come in he would have to say "good luck to the work and "God bless your cows"; (5) before meals they used to say "I thank god for His goodness"; (6) when sneezing they used to say God bless us; (7) when a person would be coming in to a house he would say 'God save all here". when dressing in the morning and undressing in the(continues on next page)
