- Long ago doctors were not as numerous as they are now-a-days and the old people used many remedies of their own to cure ailments.
There are many cures to ease a person from toothache. Some of them are, to pack the cavity in the ailing tooth with tobacco or snuff, to smoke a pipe or cigarette until it would sicken the person with the toothache, or to put baking soda into the ailing tooth.
