- One night I was above on Longgarra running a drop of poteen and I was coming home about three oclock or so of a grand summer's night. I heard another boat and I looked around and there beside me I saw the grandest boat ever you saw and there was a grand young man sitting in the end of it, and he was all dressed in silks and satins and ruffles. I couldn't see any oars, though I could hear the swishing of them in the water.
I kept going till I got in at the old road (a spot on shore on the south side of the village) and when I looked the man and boat were gone. It wasn't the first time either, the same man came out of Jim's fort (fort on land of man called Flannery in Lumcloon). but I tell you 'twas the last time I ran a still on Longgarra.- Faisnéiseoir
