- At a spot opposite the school called Ackragh two boys by the names of Peter Crummy and Pat Connor were drowned some fifty years ago. One Sunday morning after coming from mass they went for a swim at the rocks. They did not know there was a deep hole off the bank there and neither could swim. They got into the hole. An old man from Clooncunny shouted a warning to them too late and they sank down and were lost. One of them could have saved himself but lost his life trying to pull his companion to safety.
