  1. Long ago when the Fianna were in Ireland they used to hold their races from the boat house in Ballyheigue to Fenit castle. When the races used to be over they used to come in to the warren and make a fire there, and cook their meals there.
    When Cromwell was in Ireland it is said that he passed through our district, and his men tore up the bodies out of the graves and burnt them and took away the ashes that was left.
