    He missed O'Donoghue.
    O'Donoghue made his escape.
For the woods he did prepare.
    He travelled woods and valleys.
By moonlight, and by day. Every week, in the
    newspapers.
There was something published new concerning
    that brave Fenian boy.
    That bold O'Donoghue.
    O' Donoghue went walking.
    One evening after noon.
    And little was his notion.
That death would be so soon.
The sergeant of the horse police.
    Discharged his carabine.
    But loudly swore O' Donoghue.
    You're dead less you'll resign.
Resign to you, you cowardly dog.
    The thing I'd never do.
I'd rather fight with all my might.
    said bold O'Donoghue.
I'd range the woods and valleys.
    Like a wolf or kangaroo.
