    Long ago there lived a woman who had two step-sons whom she hated. She wished they would be killed. One night she played cards with them, and said, which ever one of them won the game could ask for what ever he wished. The boys won the first game they played, but they said they would let that game go. The second time they played, the woman won, and she wished that they would bring her, "The Steed of Bells". The boys said that she should live on oats and water on the top of a rock until they returned at the end of a year and a day.
    She did as she was told, and the boys went for the "Steed of Bells". While they were travelling one night they met a man. He asked them where they were going, and
